NEWARK, Del. —  William Everett Pafford, 81, of Newark, Del., formerly of Oceana, W.Va., died Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Del. Born September 6, 1930 in Wytheville, Va., he was the son of the late Frank Lee Pafford and Margaret Ida Brown Pafford. Mr. Pafford was a retired Tech Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force with twenty years of service. Following retirement from the Air Force, he worked at National Mines in Pineville, W.Va. and later worked as a Quality Assurance Inspector for several nuclear power plants throughout the northeast. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. In addition to his parents, two brothers, Frank Lee Pafford Jr. and Bobby Pafford; and two sisters, Jane Duke and Alice Morris preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Ann Thorne Pafford of Newark, Del.; three children, William E. Pafford Jr. and wife Sue of Surveyor, W.Va., Tamara Sue Morgan of Oceana, W.Va. and Chris Pafford and wife Lorrie of Newark; six grandchildren, Jarrod Pafford, Jason Pafford, Brandon Morgan, Rebecca Morgan, Nikole Pafford, and Matthew Pafford; and two brothers, Thomas Pafford and wife Barbara of Huntington, W.Va. and Douglas Pafford and wife Sharon of Moneta, Va.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with the Reverend Larry Dyer officiating. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers. The West Virginia National Guard Honor Guard and Mercer County Veterans Council will conduct military graveside rites. Friends may call at Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour on Saturday.
