ANAWALT — Phyllis "Maxine" Lambert, 78, of 3430 Anawalt Ridge Rd., Anawalt,
W.Va. (Leckie), passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at McDowell Nursing
and Rehabilitation Center in Gary, W.Va. from complications due to Parkinson's
disease and colon cancer.
Born June 2, 1934 in Leckie, W.Va., Maxine was the daughter of the late Harvey
and Ollie Marrs Lambert. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death
by four brothers, William (Bill), George (Foozie), Ted and Randy Lambert; and
sister-in-law, Nancy Lambert.
Maxine graduated from Gary High School and moved to Bridgeton, N.J. two years
later to work for Owens Illinois Glass Factory until it closed in the 1980s.
She then worked as a cashier at a casino in Atlantic City, N.J. and later
employed at Wheaton's Glass until her retirement. Upon retirement, Maxine
moved back to Leckie, W.Va. to be near (and help take care of) her mother,
brothers and sisters. She faithfully attended Boyd's Chapel Methodist Church
(her home church) and Jenkin Jones Methodist Church until her illness last
year.
Those left to dearly remember Maxine include three brothers, Frank (Vicky)
Lambert of Leckie, W.Va., Gordon (Fran) Lambert of Pageton, W.Va., and Willard
Lambert (Linda) of Anawalt, W.Va.; one sister, Diane (Ronnie)Farmer of Leckie,
W.Va.; aunt, Kathleen Lambert of Princeton, W.Va.; sisters-in-law, Shirley
Lambert of Anawalt, W.Va. and Betty Ecret of Millville, N.J. She is also
survived by a special nephew, Ted of Millville, N.J., whom Maxine thought of
as a son and several other nieces and nephews. Also, Maxine was devoted to her
great-nephews and nieces, Theo and Jake Lambert, Hannah Cox, Matthew and
Marissa Akers, all whose visits and calls always brightened her days. She also
loved her other great-nieces and nephews that she didn't see as often.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at 12:00 noon at the
Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, Va. with Pastor Clifton Miller
officiating. Interment will follow at the Lambert Family Cemetery in Leckie,
W.Va. Friends may call Tuesday, October 23, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the
Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, Va. Pallbearers will be friends, nephews
and cousins.
Maxine’s wishes were in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Boyds Chapel
Cemetery Fund, 102 Marigold Lane, Anawalt, WV to help maintain the cemetery or
McDowell Co. Humane Society (Spay and Neuter Fund), Box 714, Welch, WV to help
prevent more stray and abandoned dogs in the county.
