JARRELL C. ALFORD

 

PRINCETON — Jarrell C. Alford, 81, of Ashley Lane, Princeton, formerly of Gary, passed away Sunday, December 13, 2009 at the Home Sweet Home Personal Care of Lashmeet. Born June 3, 1928, at Gary.

 He was the son of the late Heath and Dora Jennings Alford. Jarrell was a graduate of Gary High School, Class of 1947. He worked for U.S. Steel in Gary, retiring after 36 years of service as a Supply Clerk in the warehouse.

Jarrell was a former member of the Gary Lions Club and Gary Odd fellows Lodge. Survivors: His loving and caring wife of 61 years, Juanita Myers Alford; one daughter, Sue Widener and her husband Dick; one granddaughter, Amy Harrison and her husband Shane; two great-grandchildren, Abby Kinzer and Noah Harrison, all of Princeton; an aunt, Opal Alford of Galax Va.; sisters-in-law, Margie Dula of Elkton Md., Doris Hermes of Carlsbad, Calif., Anna Myers of Panama City, Fla.; brothers-in-law, Donald Myers and wife Betty of Milton, Fla., Ralph Myers and wife Judy of Welch; several cousins also survive.

 Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2009 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastors Orville Harvey and Rob Buchanan officiating. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of the Wildwood Mausoleum, Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Friends may visit with the family today (Tuesday) from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Jarrell's family and friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Princeton Advent Church, Building Fund, 706 Prince St., Princeton, WV 24740.The honor of serving the Alford family has been given to the Memorial Funeral Directory and Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
