MONTCALM. — Earl Thomas “Tom” Presley Jr., 71, of Marble
Avenue, Montcalm, passed away Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012 at Bluefield Regional
Medical Center. Born Nov. 14, 1941 in Elbert, W.Va., he was a son of the late
Earl Thomas Presley Sr. and Marion Marder Presley.
Mr. Presley was a member of the Pine Grove Church of Christ, a veteran of the
U.S. Navy, formerly worked as a coal miner for 10 years and a retired postman
with 15 years of service with the Bluefield, Va. Post Office.
Mr. Presley was preceded in death by a son, Michael Anthony Presley; and a
sister, Doreen Hicks.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene Tabor Presley of the home; a son, Thomas
Presley and wife Heather of Montcalm; three daughters, Debbie Duncan and
husband Ricky of Bluefield, Patty Hawk and husband Howard of Lashmeet, Rose
Scalf of Beckley; two brothers, James Daniel Presley and wife Margaret “Too”
of Ceres, Va., Scott Presley and wife Kathy of Atlanta, Ga.; and special
friends, Fred and Marilyn Miles; nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild
with another on one the way.
Funeral services for Mr. Presley will be conducted on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012
at 1:00 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home located in Bluewell with the
Rev. Gary Lamie officiating. Burial will follow at the Woodlawn Memorial Park
located in Bluewell.
Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012 from 6:00 p.m.
until 8:00 p.m.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Andrew O’Donnell, Keith Maxwell, Dwayne
Tiller, Johnny Williams, Travis Odle, and Charlie Rorrer. Men of the Pine
Grove Church of Christ will serve as honorary pallbearers.
