Jenkinjones — May Elizabeth “Nitsy” Bridgeman, age 63, of 6th Hollow Road,
Jenkinjones, W.Va., died on Friday, May 18, 2012 at Welch Community Hospital.
She had “fought the good fight, she had finished her course, and she had kept
the faith.”
Born on May 22, 1948 in Anawalt, she was a daughter of the late Coy and Hazel
Walters Richardson. She had lived in Jenkinjones most of her life and was a
member of the Methodist Church. She was a 1966 graduate of Gary High School. She
had worked as a commissary manager at the Stevens Correctional Center. She was a
devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Shoun;
and a brother, Clyde Richardson.
Survivors include husband of 43 years, Danny Bridgeman of the home; son, Wesley
Bridgeman and fiancé, Cassi Tyree of Jenkinjones; granddaughter, Jordan
Bridgeman of Anawalt; brother, Dale Richardson and wife, Anita of Anawalt;
sister, Rebecca Dixon and husband, Bo of Princeton; sister-in-law, Betty
Richardson of Collinsville, Va.; and brother-in-law, Glen Shoun of Jenkinjones
Graveside services will be held on Monday, May 21, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Grandview
Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va. with the Rev. Jimmy Sanson officiating. Serving
as pallbearers will be Thomas Shoun, Larry Shoun, Jacob Shoun, Barry Shoun,
Kevin Richardson, Chris Richardson, and Ed McCroskey. Those wishing to attend
the service are asked to meet at the cemetery at the time of service.
