ANAWALT — Shelby Jean Chapman Moorehead, age 63, of P.O.
Box 226, Anawalt, W.Va., passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at
the University Hospital in Charlottesville, Va. Born on February 16, 1948
in Leckie, she was a daughter of Flossie Thompson Chapman of Anawalt and
the late Kelly Stuart Chapman. She was a member of the Sacred Heart
Catholic Church in Powhatan. She was a graduate of Gary High School. In
addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Ray
“Donnie” Chapman.
Survivors include her mother, Flossie Thompson Chapman of Anawalt; her
husband, Jerry Moorehead of the home; one son, Jerry Moorehead II and wife
Andrea of O'Toole; one daughter, Carrie A. Moorehead of the home; six
brothers, Claude “Sop” Chapman of Anawalt, Bobby Lee Chapman and Maxine of
Lynchburg, Va., Thurman Chapman and Linda of Anawalt, Jimmy Ward Chapman
and Paulette of Rustburg, Va., Bill Chapman and Judy of Thorpe, Michael
Chapman of Anawalt.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at
1:00 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with
Father Paul Manickathan and the Reverend Donnie Farmer officiating. Burial
will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with Scotty Chapman,
Aaron Chapman, Will Chapman, Josh Bowman, Brian Nichols, and Jerry
Moorehead II will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call on Tuesday from
