                                            ANTHONY "TONY" CAVALLO

ROANOKE, Va. —  Anthony “Tony” Cavallo, 75, of the Burkeshire Nursing Facility in Roanoke, Va., formerly of 116 Ovenbird Circle, Quail Valley in Princeton, died Sunday, August 28, 2011 at his residence. Born July 3, 1936 in New York City, N.Y., he was the son of the late Stefano Cavallo and Margherita Marinelli Cavallo. Tony was a retired sales manager for Benetech Mining Co., and before moving to Princeton in 1980 he was an assistant superintendent of schools in Roanoke, Va. for nineteen years and also taught night classes in the Roanoke area. While living in Princeton, Tony was very active in soccer events and started the Mercer County Youth Soccer League. He participated in tee ball with his sons and was an active PTA member in his children's schools. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Princeton. In addition to his parents, his wife, Betty Jane Lustic Cavallo; and one brother, Nick Cavallo preceded him in death.

Survivors include two sons, John Stephen Cavallo and fiancé Angel Cardwell of Kernersville, N.C. and Michael V. Cavallo and fiancé Ginger Matney of Princeton; one daughter, Christina Cavallo and husband John Miller of the U.S. Embassy in Santo Domingo; five grandchildren, Adam Holt, James Anthony Still, Victoria Dawn Skeens, Jess Miller, and Charles Miller; and one brother, Gino Cavallo of Clearwater, Fla.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 3, 2011 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Princeton with Father Paul Wharton as celebrant. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call at Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 2, 2011 with the Christian Wake Service being conducted at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions in Tony's name may be made to Catholic Charities USA, P.O.
