PRINCETON — Mrs. Bobbie J. Orr, 84, of Princeton, passed away Monday, May 16,
2011 at the home of her daughter Diane in Benson, NC. Diane had been her
caregiver for the past year. She was a daughter of the late Robert and Virgie
Boothe Myers of Elbert, W.Va. Born June 12, 1926 in Newhall, W.Va., Bobbie
lived most of her life in McDowell County, having been raised in Elbert, W.Va.
She attended schools in McDowell County, and later earned her GED while being
employed with the McDowell County Board of Education. She was a former
employee of Welch Emergency Hospital and later retired with over 20 years of
service for the McDowell County Board of Education. Bobbie was predeceased by
her parents, Bob and Virgie Myers; her husband of 60 years, Walter Orr in
April, 2005; and siblings, Irene, Otis, Alfred, Byrd, Wanda, Ima Jean, Martha
and Mary Alice. An infant brother and sister as well as a daughter-in-law,
Diana Orr also predeceased her.
She is survived by four children, Emma Jean and Husband, Kenneth Curley of
Princeton, Robert Orr of Baltimore, Md., Darrell and wife Julie Orr of
Princeton and Diane and husband Doug Abel of Benson, N.C.; grandchildren,
Scott Myers and wife Teresa, and sons, Tyler and Tanner Myers of Princeton,
Susan Ray and husband Nathan and son Hunter, and Jamie Dotson and husband
Nathan and son, Alex, all of Tazewell, Va., Anthony Orr of Princeton, Carlie
Young and husband Ronnie and son, Caleb of Benson, N.C. She is also survived
by sister, Shirley Myers of Peterstown; and sisters-in-law, Margaret Myers of
Florida, Maxine of North Carolina, Katherine Trail and Mabel Orr of Virginia;
and a number of nieces and nephews who were very dear to her.
Bobbie accepted Christ as her Savior at a very young age, becoming a member of
the Elbert Advent Christian Church. After moving to Princeton in 2003, she
became a member of the Princeton Advent Christian Church.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 20, 2011 from the
Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in
Princeton with Ministers Douglas Abel, Orville Harvey and Rob Buchanan
officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Thursday, May 19, 2011 from 6
