ELIZBETH MURPHY ALLEN

Elizabeth Ann (Liz) Murphy Allen, 66, of Calabash, N.C., died Friday, April 1, 2011. Born in Page, Va. on Dec. 3, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Sebert Dean and Gerda Taylor Murphy.

Surviving are her husband, Swanson (Swannie) Allen of the home; one son, Christopher Bryan Barnette, Birmingham, Ala.; two daughters, Kimberly June Bernette, Meza, Ariz. and Nina Deane Merle, Ellicott City, Md.; one brother, Robert Dean Murphy, Canton, Ga.; two sisters, Kaye Frances Murphy, Silver Springs, Md. and Barbara Faye Winter, Elizabethton, Tenn; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Elizabeth Murphy Allen-devoted wife to Swanson Allen, outstanding mother to Kimberly Barnette, Chris Barnette & wife Heidi and Nina Barnette Merle and husband Steve Merle. A very beloved baby sister to Bob Murphy, Kay Murphy and Barbara Murphy Winter passed away today at 1:02 pm

The funeral service will be held at Brunswick Funeral Home on 529 Ocean Highway west in Shallotte NC. Family viewing will be at 12pm. Viewing will be from 1-3 with services following afterwards at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to be made to the American Heart Association and also to the United Cerebral Palsy Foundation. Lizzy was an organ donator and her kidneys and cornea's have been donated. Lizzy had requested to be cremated. Lizzy's favorite color was purple and she loves flowers.
