William Anthony “Bill” Gergely, 80 of 137 Bratton Avenue, Apt. 1-A in Princeton died Monday, November 10, 2008, at his residence. Born in Thorpe, WV November 10, 1928 he was the son of the late Steve and Anna Kaminski Gergely.

He was retired from the mining supplies sales division of Blizzard’s, Inc. in Bluefield. Bill was a faithful member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Princeton where he was also a member of the Knight’s of Columbus.

 He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Bill made his home in Welch, WV for several years before moving to South Bend, IN. While living there he became, and remains today, an avid fan of Notre Dame football. He moved from South Bend to Princeton in 1979.

 In addition to his parent’s one brother, Frank Gergely and one sister, Sister Anntherese Gergely, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Carmen Hamro Gergely of Princeton; two daughters, Monica G. Yocum and her husband Charles of Baltimore, MD and Mary Beth Gergely of Princeton; two sons, Michael Gergely and his wife, Jodi Lynn of Wesley Chapel, FL and Matthew William Gergely and his wife Tracy of South Bend, IN; eight grandchildren, Kristen Yocum, Will Yocum, Caitlyn Gergely, Jordan Gergely, Brandon Gergely, Aaron Gergely, Matthew Gergely and Nicholas Gergely; one sister, Anne Gergely of Thorpe, WV and two brothers, Steve Gergely of Deltona, FL and Julius Gergely of Princeton.

 Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 12, 2008, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Princeton with Father Paul Wharton as Celebrant. Inurnment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Chapel of the Wildwood in Princeton. In keeping with Bill’s wishes the body has been cremated and there will be no visitation.
