
SKYGUSTY �" Rebecca Ann “Becky” Whitt Hubbard, age
67, of Ball Hollow, Skygusty, W.Va., died on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at
Princeton Community Hospital. The gates of Heaven opened, and Becky walked
into the loving arms of her husband, Gary.Born on October 12, 1942 in
McDowell County,
She was the youngest of six children born to Richard L. and Reba Dillon
Whitt. She married her soul mate, Gary M. Hubbard on June 7, 1959 at the
age of 16. On March 2, 2004, after 44 years of marriage, the light of her
Earthly World went out when her beloved husband passed away.
She graduated from Gary High School in the Class of 1960. She was a
long time member of the Long Point Missionary Baptist Church. She taught
Sunday School there until her health would no longer allow. She was a
retired employee of the McDowell County Board of Education having served
as the secretary of the Anawalt Elementary School for 33 years. She always
had a never ending love for children and animals. She will be sadly missed
by her family, friends, co-workers, and caregivers. Her light will shine
in all who knew her forever.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in
death by her brothers, Richard L. “Bill” Whitt, Jr. and Earl Whitt; and
her sister, Shirley K. Whitt. Survivors include her daughter, Robin Farmer
and husband Wes of Skygusty, W.Va.; granddaughter, Kristen Keyser of
Skygusty and boyfriend, Blake Cecil, of Bluewell, W.Va.; grandson, Shannon
Keyser of Anawalt, W.Va.; great-grandchild, Haley Keyser of Brushfork,
W.Va.; stepgrandchildren, Stephanie Farmer of Bristol, Tenn. and Jeremy
Farmer of Johnson City, Tenn.; sisters, Edna “Sis” Sluss of Bluefield,
Va., Dorothy “Rene” Jones of Danville, Va.; special sister-in-law, Jean
Whitt of Danville, Va.; brother-in-law, Kary Hubbard of Arkansas; numerous
nieces and nephews. She is also survived by the wonderful ladies and their
children from the Nelson's Personal Care where she had resided for the
past 18 months. Sarah, Shelby, Rebecca, Kelsey, Connie, and Regina were
the best ever.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 11:00 a.m.
at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell. Her pastor, the Reverend
Donnie Farmer, will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial
Gardens in Princeton where her family and friends will serve as
pallbearers.
