RITA E. HOUCH DOTSON

July 16, 1939 - May 15, 2013

Rita E. Houck Dotson, 73, of Oak Hill, died peacefully May 15, 2013, surrounded by loved ones. Born July 16, 1939, at Gary, she was the daughter of the late Quincy and Ola Mae Jordan Houck.

Rita attended Calvary Baptist Church. She retired from the Probation Office at the Fayette County Courthouse after many devoted years. Rita enjoyed cooking for her loved ones, country line dancing, shopping and Lifetime movies.

 She was known for her spunky personality, hip sense of style, and miraculous ability to have her Christmas shopping complete by the Fourth of July.

Surviving: her husband, Larry Dotson; daughters, Tammy Lilly of Charlotte, N.C., and Dee Dotson of Charleston; granddaughters, Amy Hanna and husband Grey, and Rachel Rivenbark and husband Patrick, all of Charlotte, N.C.; great-granddaughter, Caroline Hanna, of Charlotte, N.C.; a sister, Anna Christine Garten of Illinois; half-brother, Sam Houck of Florida; half-sister, Nina Lang of Florida; and many other family and friends.

The funeral service was May 18 at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Pastor Mark Wood officiating. Entombment followed at High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Oak Hill.
