Melvin Howard Moore Sr., 65, of Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2006, at his home. 

Born March 11, 1941, in Anawalt, W.Va., he was the son of the late Coley and Carrie Fuller Moore. 

He retired from General Motors in 2002. 

He served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army. 

He was a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church in Baltimore. 

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Pearl Gay Newsome Moore; three sons, Melvin H. Moore Jr. 
of Falling Waters, W.Va., Jimmy L. Yates of Shreveport, La., and Randal L. Yates of Hagerstown; two
 sisters, Bonnie Hatfield and Florence Nolley, both of Anawalt; two brothers, John Moore of Bluefield, W.Va.,
 and Jim Moore of Charleston, W.Va.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. 

Services will be private. Dr. Larry Rickard will officiate.
