VINTON, Va. — Vaughn lost
his battle with a lung
disease, on Sunday, February 23,
2014.
He was born March 15, 1940 in Leckie, WV. He is survived by his
wife, Nancy; of 48 years;
son, James (Jim) Pruitt (Terri); grandchildren: Landon, Tyler and Sophie Pruitt, Paige Barr, of Tomball, TX; and Morgan Lavender of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Lavonne (Sis) Pruitt of Vinton, VA; sisters, Billy Kay Middleton, Vinton, and Mari Lou King (Randy), Versailles, FL; brothers, Charles Pruitt (Brenda) Newport News, VA; Jack Parish (Barbara) Dublin, VA; Tom Parish (Ellen) Anawalt, WV; and Mike Pruitt (Rae), Hilliard, FL; step-mother, Betty Pruitt, Tampa, FL; and many, many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and a huge extended family of friends..
He was preceded in death by his mother, Edna Clyde Parish; father, Vance
Pruitt; sisters, Sylvia Ray and Theresa Feazell; brother, Daniel Ray
Parish; and step-father, Bill Parish.
Vaughn Dean loved people and also had a great love for music. His bands
“Just Country” and “Cross Country” played throughout the Roanoke and
surrounding areas through the years. He most enjoyed getting together
with family and friends who also had musical talents and doing a lot of
“picking and grinning”. God truly blessed him with a very special voice.
Friends may call on Wednesday, February 26, at Cravens-Shires Funeral
Home, Bluewell, WV from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Funeral service conducted on
Wednesday at 7:00 P.M., with Pastor Mike Coleman officiating. A second
visitation will be conducted on Thursday at the Green Cove Missionary
Baptist Church, February 27, 2014 from 12:00 – 1:00 P.M. Burial will
follow in the church cemetery.
