JENKINJONES
— Claude Fredy Hunley, Jr., age 69, of P.O. Box 23, Jenkinjones, W.Va., passed
away on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at the home of his son in Bassett, Va.
Born on July 11, 1941 in Jenkinjones, he was son of the late Claude Fred
Hunley, Sr. and the Rebecca Harman Hunley. He had been a resident of
Jenkinjones for all of his life and was a retired coal miner. He had worked 22
years in the mines and was a member of UMWA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde
Vernon Hunley and Franklin Andrew Hunley. He was the last surviving member of
his immediate family.
Survivors include: Wife, Mary Rose Hunley of the home; two sons, Michael
Hunley and wife Pamela of Bassett, Va., Claude Fredy Hunley, III and wife
Trevor of Jenkinjones; three daughters, Melissa Ann Hill and husband Tim of
Salisbury, Md., Constance May Drake of Collinsville, Va., Michelle Darlene
Mitchell of Bassett, Va.; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 11:00 a.m.
at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with the Reverend Jim
Blevins officiating. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Bill Hunley, Bo
Davis, Jackie Rose, Josh Hunley, Brian Rose, John Harman, Ed McCroskey, Roger
Sizemore, and E.J. McCroskey .
Friends may call on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
