CHARLES "CHUCK" EDMUND GOAD

CHARLES EDMUND GOAD, 75 of Lamesa, TX went to be with the Lord on Wednesday,  Nov 18, 2009, at Medical Arts Hospital in Lamesa.  Born Oct 19, 1934 in Mt. Airy, NC.  He was the only son born to the late Roy and Opal Brewster Goad.

He grew up in the Filbert and Elbert area of Gary Hollow. He  was a 1952 graduate of Gary High School and worked for US Steel in several different Coal Camp areas.  He worked for Roy Motor company  and Dyers Furniture in Lamesa, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Lions Club.

In addition to his parents,  he was preceded in death by his sister Eleanor Scott.  Left to cherish his memory are his four sons.   Chuck  and Kim Goad of Wichita Falls, TX, Tim and Dana Goad of New Braunfels, TX,  Heath Goad  and Kelton Goad, both of Lubbock, TX.  A Sister Iris Goad Miller of  Grand Junction, Colorado, and 6 Grandchildren, and two Great Grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, Nov 20, 2009 at 10 am at Second Baptist Church with Brother Clifton  Igo Officiating.  Services are  under the direction of Branon Funeral home.

Chuck will be missed by the many friends that's he's kept in touch with, and the websites had helped him to do that.  I remember him telling me that Chinese was his favorite food, and the Iris was his favorite flower. He loved that little grand daughter Avery. He loved baby sitting her.   He loved each and everyone of his sons and their wives and his grand children and Great Grand Children.  He talked to me a lot about his family,  He had a great love in his heart for his family and his friend.  Chuck was good man, and I'm grateful that he was one of my best friends, and he knew he could tell me anything.   Chuck had a hard time sleeping at night, and there was times he would call Iris, and they would stay up talking about a little of everything.

When we had chat room on the 1st and 15th of each month, and if I wasn't on by 8: pm, he'd call me and he always said, Where you at Darling? and there's times when I had to call him and remind him to get on also.  but he was a very special friend.  and I'll cherish his Memory.  You're Gone Chuck but will never be Forgotten.

Below are Some Photos that I have of Chuck with Friends and Family,  If you have other pictures that you would like to add to these, please email them to me.  The first four pictures were taken at Miracle Mountain in 2006. I would like to put some pictures of His and Nellies children and Grand children.

This is a poem that Chuck wrote for me. and I want to share it with you.

"BARBIE"

A LITTLE GIRL FROM PAGETON
A COAL MINING TOWN
IN THE WEST VIRGINIA HILLS
THE HOME OF COAL MINERS
WHO WORKED HARD TO PAY THEIR BILLS

TO RAISE THEIR KIDS
AS BEST THAT THEY COULD
IN THOSE OLD COMPANY HOUSES
THAT WERE ALL MADE OF WOOD

THEY WERE ALL PAINTED YELLOW
STANDING ROW AFTER ROW
BUILT ON SLATE DUMPS
SOME HIGH AND SOME LOW

THE KIDS WERE ALL HAPPY
THEY DIDN'T CARE
THE HOUSES WERE COZY AND WARM
FROM THE COLD WINTERS AIR

BARBIE GREW UP THERE IN A FAMILY OF MANY
HER DADDY WORKED HARD
TO MAKE SURE THEY ALL HAD PLENTY

THAT'S WHERE BARBIE LEARNED HER GREAT GIFT OF SHARING
SHE'S NEVER FORGOTTEN
BECAUSE HER PARENTS WERE SO CARING

SHE FINISHED HIGH SCHOOL
SHE THOUGHT SHE WAS GROWN
SHE PACKED HER BELONGINGS
AND SET OUT ON HER OWN

SHE WORKED HERE AND THERE
AND SOON SHE WAS MARRIED
SHE LIVED ROUND THE WORLD
NOT TOO MANY PLACES HAS SHE TARRIED

RAISING KIDS OF HER OWN
SHE HAD A GOOD LIFE
BEING THE GREATEST MAMA AND WIFE

THE KIDS ARE GROWN AND GONE NOW
BUT YOU WONT FIND BARBIE SITTING   SHE'S NOT THE KIND
TO DO CROCHET OR KNITTING

SHE PUT TOGETHER THIS WEBSITE
FOR SCHOOLMATES TO SEE
TO SHARE HER MEMORIES
WITH YOU AND WITH ME

I VISIT HER WEBSITE AGAIN AND AGAIN JUST TO SEE WHAT SHE ADDED
AND MAYBE SPOT AN OLD FRIEND

BARBIE WORKS SO HARD
TO MAKE US HAPPY AND GLAD
SHE MAKES US FEEL YOUNG AGAIN
NO TIME FOR BEING SAD

SHE'S ONE OF MANY SUCCESS STORIES
FROM OLD GARY HIGH SCHOOL
BUT HER GREATEST SOURCE
IS THE GOLDEN RULE

I DIDN'T KNOW BARBIE BEFORE
THE COALDIGGER CHAT
NOW SHE'S MY DEAREST AND BEST FRIEND I'VE EVER HAD
I THANK GOD FOR THAT
