CARL "ODELL" MITCHEM

JENKINJONES — Carl “Odell” Mitchem, age 68, of Jenkinjones, W.Va., died on Monday, January 24, 2011 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.

Born on September 6, 1942 in McDowell County, he was a son of the late Allen G. and Nellie E. Davis Mitchem. He had lived in McDowell County his entire life and was a construction worker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Ruthford Joe “Sonny Boy” Mitchem and Curtis Cecil “Cat Man” Mitchem and Charles Clifford Mitchem; and sister, Jessie May Powers.

Survivors: Brothers, Jimmy Mitchem, Albert Mitchem, William Mitchem, Donald Mitchem; sisters, Dora Mitchem, Brenda Kay Mitchem, Helen Beatrice Mitchem, Rosie Mitchem, and Carol Thompson.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 12:00 noon at Boyd's Chapel in Leckie, W.Va. with Pastor Dallas Peyton, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at the Boyd's Chapel Cemetery located beside the church. Friends may call on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the church.
