Blanche Large Valach, 72, of Hiwassee, died on Friday morning,
June 22, 2012, at her residence. She was born on September 21, 1939, in
Abingdon, and was the daughter of the late Lillie Gobble Large and Charlie
Milton Large. Mrs. Valach was a long-time member of the Newbern Community
Christian Church, and was a retired employee of the Radford Army Ammunition
Plant with over 30 years of service.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, George Michael Valach;
one son, James Michael Valach Sr. and his wife Sharon, of McHenry, Md.; one
brother, James Large, of Huntingtown, Md.; one grandson, James Michael Valach
Jr. and his wife, Tracey, and their daughter, Ahna Valach, of Snowshoe, W.Va.;
three aunts, Jettie Large, of Princeton, W.Va., Ivy Large, of Sarasota, Fla.,
and Belle Noe, of Donna Vista, Fla.
A Celebration of Blanche's Life will be held at 7 p.m. on
Saturday, June 23, 2012, at the Newbern Community Christian Church with the Rev.
Ernie Depew and the Rev. Jeff Curtis officiating. A farewell service will be
held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, 2012, at the Forest Hills Memory Gardens in
Abingdon. The family will receive friends Saturday at the church from 5 until 7
p.m. before the service. Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be made in
Blanche's memory to the charity
